Hemsedal is a haven for ski enthusiasts and mountain lovers. It is 3 hour drive from Norway's capital city, Oslo. Getting there is quite a challenge specially for those who easily get car sick since it's all curves and uphills, but finally getting there is worth it. These are actually photos from last Easter, yes Easter and there was still snow, locals said that they have snow half to two thirds of the year. What's nice is that it was not that cold considering the amount of snow there were when we were there. So no need for super thick heavy winter jackets, walking will surely make you sweat and warm. Here is the cabin where I stayed together with my hosts, there was really a lot of snow but it's surprisingly warm and cozy inside. There are hotels as well further down as well, but it's a bit difficult going up and down every time so having a place to stay up there is really nice. These are the skiers enjoying the sunny day, I wasn't able to take picture of me trying to ski for the first time, a shame. But then the experience was totally not ordinary and once in a lifetime.

When we say middle east the first things that come to mind are desert, camels, Arabians and even belly dancing. But when I came in Dubai with my hosts, it is like a tropical paradise! clear waters and white sand welcomed us and nice accommodating people. We stayed in Sofitel The Palm Jumeriah Hotel in one of their apartment style suite. Above are images of what will welcome you at the hotel's entrance. These are the view from our room we are at the second floor. Here is the magnificent sunset by the beach and the view at night. There are restaurants, spas, gym and kid's club where they can play with other kids, dance and do arts and crafts. Here's the living room area and one of the rooms, please excuse the mess lol. The other room is bigger with bath tub and a big bed I was not able to took pictures of it. But this bed room has a toilet and bath also closet and television. I walk at the side of the road one afternoon ad from there you can see the world's famous Burj Al Arab Jumeriah Hotel.
Tips: *Research of the place where you want to go, travelling in a group is always a good idea so you can share in rooms and other packages. *Know the temperature and the weather, I don't recommend going to middle east during summer because it can be as hot as 50 degrees Celsius. *Travel as light as possible, do not over pack I mean if you are going to have a week's vacation are you sure you'll bring 3 huge suitcases? There's a lot more in the middle east than the heat, specially in Dubai, no wonder it's one of the best picks for tourists. Enjoy your vacation! One of the important aspects of your wedding is the venue, it has to go with your theme of course, if you're going for a garden or beach wedding, maybe having your reception at a hotel or even at your backyard. Other thing to consider is the time of your wedding morning, afternoon or dinner, for example beach wedding is nice for afternoon weddings to capture the sunset. Or evenings if you want to have some fireworks. The season of your wedding is also a factor, summer, spring, winter or fall? Or if you live in the Philippines, it's summer or the rainy season. If you are having an outdoor reception make sure you have enough heater to keep your guests warm or have fans if it will get quite warm. Your number of guests is also an important thing, will it be just an intimate wedding having just your family and closest friends? or the usual 100-150 guests to having an all out fiesta for everyone you know. And you should not forget your budget and the availability of the venue on your wedding date, you can also ask them if they hold two or more events at once because you would maybe like to have the venue all for you and your guest on that date. Looking and booking early is a lot cheaper than a last minute venue booking and also you will have a lot to choose from when you look early also ask them if the price fixed as you book it because sometimes prices change without prior notice. With these things in mind hope I help you figure out what's the best venue for your big day, Happy prepping! So you have your dream dress in mind, but will it flatter your body type? Here's an illustration guide for you: Hourglass:
This means you have a small waist with prominent shoulders and hips. Mermaid or trumpet silhouette is best to show your curves and emphasize your waist. Inverted Triangle: If you have broader shoulder than your hips then you are an inverted triangle shape, you want to have an embellished or layered skirts to draw attention to the lower part of your body. You can also use belts to high light your waist and to take away attention to your shoulders. Rectangle: Also known as the "straight body type", you should avoid column gowns or those empire cuts with straight skirt for it will only emphasize your lack of curves, an A-line is a good choice for it will give you an illusion of hips with it's just right full skirt. Pear: This is the opposite of the inverted triangle type, your hips are wider than your shoulders. You can have an A-line dress to cover your hips or have some embellished top or sleeves to balance it all out. Apple: This means you have rounded tummy and hips, A-line is again a good choice to cover the mid section of your body and same like the pear shape an off shoulder or patterned sleeves will take away the attention your tummy. Now that you know your body type, you can easily pick the dress that will highlight your assets, and will make you gorgeous on your big day. Happy prepping! Your dream wedding of course does have a budget, maybe not the dream budget lol. So who's paying? Are your parents will share? And while we envy those who has the moon as the limit let's get real here, everything in your wedding has to be in your budget, we don't want to spend our married life paying debts right? When allocating your budget you must think where to put the bigger chunks of it. Most of it may go to the food or catering service, the dress and the entourage's clothes, accommodations if you will have a destination wedding and many other factors like: The number of guests: Do you want to have an intimate wedding with just close friends and family? Or you're going all out? Of course the bigger the number of your guests, the more expensive your wedding will get. Because you have to provide more food, bigger space, more tables, more centerpieces, more prints of invitation and the list just go on and on.. basically more of everything. The Wedding Church and Venue: Different churches and venues have different rates what I can suggest is as early as you agreed on your wedding date you should start looking for your wedding church and venue as well, it will be hard and possibly expensive if you book later on your wedding planning. Some have the ceremony and the reception in the same place, that's a good idea because you'll just pay for one place, and you don't have to worry on the transportation. The Day and Time: June and December I can say is the peak season of weddings, who doesn't want to be a June bride? or many ladies want to have a holiday wedding. Again the key is to look and book early and ask them if the price you signed in the contract will not change over time. Those are just among lots of factors that can take most of your wedding budget but in the end it will still depend on you, where you want your budget placed. If you want to spend more on flowers or the dresses or the music. It's your wedding after all. Happy planning! |
